Great Computer
I received the computer on the day Amazon gave as the delivery date. Easy to transport with fast speed. Love the web camera and video. With just a little practice, microsoft 7 is easy to navigate. I would recommend this computer.

very happy!
I have been looking for a new laptop for a couple of months. I needed the best price for a laptop that suited my business needs. This turned out to be just right. I needed the large HD and lots of memory. However, I lug it around a lot, so it had to be pretty light-weight. Dell has good support, the price was good and setting it up was so easy and almost automatic. If I had to buy again, I would buy this computer. Special feature: Very few laptops have a keypad, so felt lucky that this one included it.

Supurb Computer - Excellent Service

As for Amazon's performance as a seller? Exceptional! I can't promise this will be your experience, but we took the "free shipping" option available at the time, and got the computer "the next day!" This is a fine computer at a great price from an excellent retailer.

This is a great laptop that provides good performance comparing to the price.

Disadvantages:

The ultra low voltage dual core cpu is excellent, much better performance than a netbook, yet really low on power consumption. The first thing I did do was double the memory for improved performance. It came with a great balance of software even though it was geared much more for business use. Network performance it good, I haven’t run into any wireless networks I couldn’t connect. I regularly use it for streaming video without issue from the web. The images are sharp and crisp, the video smooth. While the display is glossy, I have found the glare really reasonable compaired to other computers having a similar screen. Access to the hard drive and memory is fast and easy, making simple to upgrade.

The screen itself is pretty good LED but also a bit shiny. I had a shiny screen Dell 700M prior to this and Dell got it right. Shiny but not overly reflective. Lenovo went overboard. I’m also searching for an anti-reflective film for the screen. I generally don’t find the lack of an on board DVD drive a negative. I either install software program via network or a USB drive. For movies, I use something like Handbrake to cnvert and put them correct on the difficult drive. It will save your battery when traveling not utilizing the DVD.

A great little laptop for the money
I had a standard netbook with a 10" screen I received as a gift last fall, it was small and compact but at the time I was doing a lot of writing on the laptop and found the smaller screen causing me neck pain after long hours of use. I researched and ran across this Lenovo Laptop. While it was a bit larger that I would of liked, it was actually lighter, thinner and I am getting 6-7 hours of battery life which is double the netbook, which had an extended battery. The screen resolution is great. While I am not fond of the case styling with it's web like desgin, it it solid and functional, the textured surface makes it feel more secure when I carry it.
The ultra low voltage dual core cpu is great, much better performance than a netbook, yet very low on power consumption. The first thing I did do was double the memory for improved performance. It came with a good balance of software although it was geared more for business use. This included a trial version of the Office full business edition and SQL server 2005 express. Additional software included a face recognition security software. I went through and removed the business applications I didn't need and reloaded it with just what I wanted. The HDMI port and the eSATA connector are a great addition, add the hot swap dock available elsewhere on amazon and you have a very fast and versatile external storage.
Network performance it good, I haven't run into any wireless networks I couldn't connect. I regularly use it for streaming video without issue from the web. The images are sharp and crisp, the video smooth. While the screen is glossy, I have found the glare very reasonable compaired to other computers with a similar screen. Access to the hard drive and memory is fast and easy, making easy to upgrade.

Finding carrying cases is a bit harder than with other laptops. It took several days before I found one that was compact, but had enough room for accessories. I have to mention the power supply, it is small and compact AND they give you a long and I do mean long power cord, you don't have to worry about reaching a plug when you want to work while recharging. Most computer manufacturers seem to be into short small cords that are not very practical. I own two lenovo laptops now and my three computers at work are all lenovos they are a decent solid work horse, I highly recommend them as a brand and especially this 11.6 inch model, it is a great computer for the money. I carry it everywhere I go, and use it every day.

Almost perfect
I wanted a computer a little bigger than a netbook with better graphic for watching video and the occasional photoshop or CAD project. I bought this in March direct from Lenovo with better specs than what is being offered here, but also for a little more money. The build quality is great, battery life very good (4+ hours), and the aesthetics are mostly spot on. The only thing I do not like is the shiny black bezel around the screen. So much so I'm actually thinking of trying to apply some type of anti-reflective film or even plain to the surface. The screen itself is pretty good (LED) but also a bit shiny. I had a shiny screen Dell 700M before this and Dell got it right. Shiny but not overly reflective. Lenovo went overboard. I'm also looking for an anti-reflective film for the screen.

Otherwise, the keyboard is great and the touchpad, although different, works pretty well after you tweak the settings and get used to the textured surface. I don't use the pad all that much because I hate smaller notebook touch pads overall and use a notebook mouse whenever possible. You can find a USB or eSATA drive for 50-75 bucks if you look. I generally don't find the lack of an on board DVD drive a negative. I either install software via network or a USB drive. For movies, I use something like Handbrake to cnvert and put them right on the hard drive. It will save your battery when traveling not using the DVD.

Is it perfect? No. But it is built far better than most of the netbooks and is capable of more. All and all, a winner.

I am not a pc geek so will skip the technical mumbo-jumbo and give the laymans review It works great. Ive had it for a couple weeks now and I have no complaints. Everything runs fast and smooth. The moniter is big and bright and clear. For what I do it functions great. Also, I gotta say that I love Windows 7. To me it is a large leap forward from my previous operating system Windows XP.

I was looking at laptops twice the price when I saw this one pop up on the best sellers list for Amazon. The only difference between the higher cost notebooks and this Compaq is that it doesn’t have a webcam or 4 GB of memory it only has 2 but is expandable to 4. You can’t get a better laptop for that price. Very happy with my purchase!

I think this is a decent computer for that cost but remember that you get what you pay for. I would love this computer if it weren’t for that fact that the battery sucks and the speakers are truly low. Rather than the 4.5 hours of battery life advertised. It’s truly maybe 1.5 hours prior to you need to plug in the charger. The speakers are kinda low which makes it frustrating to try to watch movies or video’s.

Everything you'll need in a computer.
This computer is amazing. The cpu is amazingly fast, I'm able to run many multiple programs at once and the only lag I've seen was while 3 videos were loading and the lag only lasted for 5 seconds tops. But I'm able to run HD videos with no problem and this computer has a great sound mixer. The speakers aren't quite that loud tho unfortunately. This computer will also run a game like Left 4 Dead with no problem. I don't own any other computer game to test it on, but anything equivelent or older than Left 4 Dead will work perfectly fine. At the price this whole thing goes for, I'd say this is the best computer you will find out there for this price. I've done benchmarks and compared, you won't find anything better at this price.

so to wrap it up in pros and cons..

Pros:
-amazing 720p screen with HD video experience
-video card will allow you to play games up to the equivelent of Left 4 Dead
-Keyboard is easy to type on
-3 usb ports make it useful for the average person
-Windows 7 Premium is about the best OS I've seen and it makes tasks much more easier and enjoyable (look up reviews on it)
-very fast processor
-with 250GB memory and 7200 RPM I was able to download 4GB of memory off of a CD in under 7 min!
-moderately light weight
-boot up time takes around 30-40 seconds
-16:9 screen
-lots of RAM

Cons:
-scroll on the touch pad is a little sluggish when trying to scroll long lengths

That's about it. I love this computer. Now if you're a serious gamer and you're looking for a nice computer to play your high frame rate games, this computer won't play them. Sorry to say, but for gamers, you'll have to spend atleast a 100$ more for a better video card.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPUTER TO ANYONE! Buy it, you'll love it!

If you find it cheap, grab it!
There's a few other Compaq models similar to this one out there but in my opinion this is probably your best bet. Why?, A fast SINGLE core AMD processor. Although one of the dual core models will still probably perform better I just felt better spending less. I don't believe a whole lot of applications, at least the ones I use, use the two cores anyway. I also feel better that I can still buy a new computer in three or four years with the money saved. I don't think multicore processors are quite there yet in my opinion. In addition the graphics chip on this machine is better than those on the other models.

So how does it perform? Well, doing internet surfing and music listing at the same time it does great. All PCs now should be able to do that ok but there are still some out there new and old that have problems and will not do that well. A good example is the acer desktop I bought which was discontinued almost immediately. It had problems Acer didn't want to admit to but they knew about. Long story short I tossed that massive waste of money out and bought this. This machine only has a hiccup in the audio once every half hour to hour when not doing anything else which is fairly decent. You can expect CPU or latency spikes on any computer to cause a hiccup every now and then.

I haven't got a chance to try out much DVDs but movies in general seem to play ok on this machine with maybe a hiccup in the video or audio every half to hour or so. Of course it can be worse if you're running certain or multiple programs or a player that doesn't play well with your machine. It's not bad, not bad at all though. It also depends on the playback software you're using. You will find out which ones work the best on you're machine. Oddly WMP and the included cyberlink software seem to play it the best at least on my machine. Usually people experience problems with that included software but it works great for me.

The wifi works fine but at least on mine it's some aetheros adapter with not very good drivers to go with it. With this there is a CPU and latency spike about every minute for about three to eight seconds at worst. Thankfully this computer is tuned in such a way where you will probably never notice this while listing to audio or watching video unless you're doing a lot of things at once.

This computer probably isn't the best for HD video. I haven't tried actually buying an external Blu Ray player for it but I imagine you could probably run into some problems if that is what you plan on doing. I recommend a regular Blu Ray player or PS3 if you plan on watching HD video. This machine can play HD video pretty good if you close everything down with minimal slowdown or skips in audio. I've tried samples on this machine and they seem to play best in WMP and cyberlink. Flash HD video on youtube plays awful. I guess this machine is not quite powerful enough to do that. It's unwatchable. This is such a great machine though that I still recommend it even with the youtube HD problems. This machine will certainly tide me over for the next three to four years when I'll probably have to buy a new one anyway. At that time I imagine blu ray drives will be standard and cheap.

Like I said though I don't believe technology for multi cores and blu ray is quite there yet, so why waste all the money now on it? I don't really believe in spending a whole bunch on something that will be outdated regardless in three years. For most people this machine should be able to handle most of what you throw at it.

As for gaming it can run RPG Maker games just fine. Emulating other older game systems on this machine such as psx and snes is not a problem.

This is probably the best computer I ever owned and I highly recommend it.

I love it, but the cd/dvd drive has never worked
I have had my computer for 5 months now....I do love it but the cd/dvd drive has never worked. Did not bother shipping it back because I figured with the shipping price, I would fare better just letting someone putting a new drive in for me.

Stoped working at day 2...
...and now HP cant help me because I am not at the US and this is a US excluve model.

Even though they never said so at the guaranty.

They want me to send it to the US, even tough HP exists in this country too, only because of the model, and I am will not do that because nobody will pay me back the sending money.

I mean, I knew that the Compaqs where cheap for a reazon, but not this one.

Good basic Computer
I puchased this for a friend of mine, I gave it to her after I removed a lot of bundled software that always seem to come with all computers. it took a little while but was not hard to do. Would have given a 5th star if it came with a windows 7 system disk.It is fast and easy to connect to wi-fi. Would recommend it to others as a good basic computer. great price from amazon.

I love it. Have it had it for about a month. The only negative is the short battery life, but when you look at the lightweight portables with longer battery life their batteries are twice as heavy. Toshiba has done a truly great job with this laptop computer, its quick, the screen is really great in its clarity, wireless its superb, I get good reception, where my wife laptop computer doesn’t I’ve yet to encounter any difficulties, but I’ve not had it for long so we’ll see. For now great.

I have Now i got this Satellite U505 S2010 touch display. Its Ideal Its not dim as the other reviews stated, just right! Everything functions out fine. No critical complaints! Only if you like to play games the video card could have been better since the other 13.3 inch toshiba then you’ll need to give up the touch display. Would recomend this laptop. Value for your cash too!

Perfect!
I have used a Toshiba Portege M300. Very happy with it. Now i got this Satellite U505 S2010 touch screen. Its PERFECT!!! Its not dim as the other reviews stated, just right! Everything works out fine. No critical complaints! Only if you like to play games the video card could have been better as the other 13.3 inch toshiba then you'll have to give up the touch screen. Would recomend this laptop. Value for your money too!!!

Really Cheap Keyboard !!!
This is without a doubt the cheapest keyboard I have ever seen on a laptop. While the exterior construction of this Toshiba laptop is solid, the keyboard is just a piece of cheap plastic with some keys on top. Some of the keys don't even line up straight. The laptop is also slow in starting probably due to all the (useless) software that Toshida pre-installed which I am still in process of removing. My wife had a Toshiba laptop (satellite) from a few years back and keyboard/overall performance is a lot better. I am really disappointed at Toshiba this time!!! I most probably won't purchase any machine from Toshiba anymore !!! (I don't normally write reviews but in this case, really want to put down a warning for others who are thinking about buying.)

really nice!
Toshiba has done a really good job with this laptop, its fast, the screen is very good in its clarity, wireless its excellent, I get good reception, where my wife laptop does not( diff brand). I've yet to encounter any problems, but I've not had it for long so we'll see. For now good.

Following I got it I booted Windows to make sure everything worked, then I installed Ubuntu 64bit. Every thing works pretty great although I haven’t tried to use the webcam, the only problem is the wireless drivers which causes the connection to stop working or disconnect randomly.

I am very pleased with how the computer functions. It functions excellent for my Guild Wars. I truly don’t have any difficulties with it, except it being a PC and needing all these programs to help the registry issues and watching for viruses and spyware, but I’ve AVG installed and that appears to be working well.

The laptop is quick with 4 GB RAM,the HD is big 500GB and although this particular model with 15.6 inch screen and full keypad with numerics might be a little heavier than some other models it’s still light enough to carry around without having a issue. Getting wirelss built in has been wonderful. It appears much more dependable than wired and may be without having problems. I in no way had that prior to and now I see why more and much more individuals are turning to wireless.
I have only had this laptop computer for a few weeks now and have been running all sorts of games on it with no problems whatsoever Not shoot em up games but games like Myst, Dream Chronicles, Mahjong Deminsions Deluxe, and hidden object games.

So far, so good
I wasn't so sure about this laptop when I first opened it. The keyboard is a little different from what I am used to, and I didn't expect the slide to unlock it, but it did not take long to get accustomed to it.

My only complaint so far is the noise made by the CD/DVD drive when it is active. Since I only use that about 4 times a year, it is not a big deal to me.

I purchased this to replace a desktop. It is working out fine so far - no problems. I love Windows 7 compared to Vista and there wasn't a lot of extra stuff loaded on. I have been using it for a little over a month. I would say it is a great little computer for all the basic needs.

Acer AS5542-5547 15.6-Inch Laptop (Blue)

I bought this computer in replace of a Toshiba with a Turion X2 TL-62, is a very good upgrade with a Great Sound, great graphics and huge HDD, and I upgrade to Win7 Pro 64bits.

HDMI interface is a great upgrade to me, I can see the last episodes of K-On!!! :-) with full HD, and episodes of EVA 1.11 and 2.22 runs great!!!

You can play games with a very good performance like Transformers War of Cybertron, Street Fighter IV and the old games runs smooth like GTA San Andreas, Ghost Recon Modern Warfare.

Also the VMWare Workstation runs without problem, I run virtual machines with Red Hat 6 and Windows Server 2008 (simultaneous) these machines runs like in physical hardware.

I'm very happy with this laptop and price, performance, capacity, video, sound quality this is the best choice for your money.

Can't beat Acer + AMD
When Acer teams up with AMD's Turion II Ultra processor the laptop that is produced can't be beat for the price. The laptop is fast with 4 GB RAM,the HD is large(500GB)and although this particular model with 15.6 inch screen and full keypad with numerics might be a little heavier than some other models it is still light enough to carry around without a problem. Having wirelss built in has been wonderful. It seems more reliable than wired and has been without problems. I never had that before and now I see why more and more people are turning to wireless.
I have only had this laptop for a few weeks now and have been running all sorts of games on it with no problems whatsoever.... Not "shoot 'em up" games but games like Myst, Dream Chronicles, Mahjong Deminsions Deluxe, and hidden object games. The thing could run more demanding games but I am not interested in those.

This took some hunting on Amazon because they do not appear when you run a filter, ultra-portable: slim and lightweight, this sort of thing. The basic specifications I wanted was 11-12 inch screen, dual core processor, and less than 3.5 pounds. E ‘come down to this, the Dell and Toshiba. Dell seemed to have a problem with the 6 cell battery which protrudes at the base. The Tosho only came with 2GB of memory. This has a 500GB HD and 4 GB of memory, basically a full specification than anything else is around. The 6-cell battery fits the profile of the computer perfectly. The keyboard is nice. The screen is beautiful. The mousepad is good once you get the hang of it, is the same as any other laptop of this size. Best of all it weighs just over three pounds. I just spent the last week to say goodbye around London and did not know what was in my bag. Happy with my purchase. Highly recommended.

Acer Emachines Laptop E725-4520 Intel T4400 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Review
From eMachines was taken by Acer, who run what I like to call these sales sneak attack. There is no warning and no way to really find unless you are running this ad on Wal-Mart or Best Buy, but usually by then its to late. This is an awesome deal, acers are great, some of the laptops here in the last year or so have been less than stellar, but still sell large and last long. Reason is that it has taken everyone by storm with the netbook, and then bought out eMachines and Gateway, so I think we lacked a bit ‘in your machine. So on this, I got this from Wal-Mart for 298, which used to have one with the Celeron 900, which was surprisingly fast and hard to beat. Well, it was defeated, the price on that rose to 349, even 449 in some cases, this probably will. He has a great processor, even if its soul in age, that its Double (dual core), great for multiasking or whatever u want to do really. Upgradeable to 4GB is great, but I find 3 to be totally sufficient. I also have a desktop gaming superpower, so do not really need much more. So yes this can not be beat for $ 298! So check out the shops before disappearing, as I said at the moment they hit the site that are usually gone. I am writing at this time outside using my wireless and works perfectly, no drops, nothing slow downs! DVD burning is great, with the recovery disk in about 45 minutes. The speakers are small but strong. And the screen is very bright and easy to see even here in the sun. I had many people who own Dells, HPS, and Toshiba and say this is definitely still there favorite to use, even professionals. I work on computers and I must say I’m really impressed and I can snag another to keep for backup, for another day or another person. Do not miss this, you’ll miss out big time. Students in particular, its perfect for mobility. Btw the battery life now is about 3 hours and 25 minutes, and I’ve been here half an hour!.
